1.2 Hardware:
Intel and 100% compatible processors are supported. A
Pentium 166MHz or faster processor with at least 32 megabytes of
physical RAM is required to run graphically based applications. At
least 48 megabytes of RAM is recommended for applets running within
a browser using the Java Plug-in. Running with less memory may cause
disk swapping which has a severe effect on performance. Very large
programs may require more RAM for adequate performance.
Disk Space - at least 50Megabytes for the initial installation is
required.
Note - Trying to install the Java 2 SDK on a non-supported version of Microsoft Windows or on a machine that doesn't have a sufficiently up-to-date Service Pack will cause the installer to generate this warning: "We recommend that you do not install this Java Platform for the following reasons: This Java Platform does not support the operating system or operating-system service pack on this machine."
2. Installation CD
TradeForms - is provided on an installation CD. An automatic
installation process should commence once the CD is inserted in the
CD caddy.
Please ensure that all other applications are closed prior to
commencing the installation process.
If the automatic installation process does NOT commence
automatically, open a File Manager application and run SETUP.exe
from the drive letter that represents the CD drive.
A step by step process of installing TradeForms will guide you
through the process.
3. Do you have a Proxy Server
A proxy Server is server between a client application, such as a
internet application, and a real server. It intercepts all requests
to the real server to see if it can fulfil the requests itself. If
not, it forwards the request to the real server. Proxy servers have
two main purposes: improve performance and filter requests.
If you have a Proxy Server, you will be required to enter the
address of the proxy server during the installation process. If you
are unsure of the answer, please contact your local IT consultant.
Note - If you have a Proxy Server and you do NOT enter the
information into TradeForms you will not be able to Register or
communicate with your Trading Partners.
4. Do you have a Firewall
A Firewall is a combination hardware and software buffer that many
companies or organizations have in place between their internal
networks and the internet A firewall allows only specific kinds of
messages from the Internet to flow in and out of the internal
network. This protects the internal network from intruders or
hackers who might try to use the Internet to break into those
systems.
If you have a Firewall, you should not have to change any of the
settings of the Firewall. TradeForms uses standard PORT's to
communication over the Internet and to communicate to your Trading
Partners. TradeForms uses PORT 8080 and 8081.
Note - If you have a Firewall like Norton's Internet Security
enabled you may be requested to ALLOW TRAFFIC on these PORTS the
first time you try and connect/communicate with your Trading
Partners or Register to use TradeForms. You should answer the ALLOW
TRAFFIC on these PORTS and remember these settings for the
TradeForms application. If you are unsure of the answer, please
contact your local IT consultant.
